- This card is a reference to the Persian Immortals.
- Heroditus tells us that the Persian Immortals, also known as the "10,000 Immortals" got their name because there were always exactly 10,000 of them. They maintained their numbers by immediately killing any member who was injured or ill, and replaced him with a man from their training camps.
- The card illustration was inspired by the look of the Immortals from the 300 graphic novel and film.
