- Mantis Shrimp (also known as Stomatopods) can swing their raptorial claws over 100,000 meters a second, at that speed their claws experience over 10,000 G of force. Their strike creates an wake of low pressure that forms air bubbles, and when these bubbles collapse in a process called cavitation they release energy, heating the water around the claws to over 4,700 degrees Celsius (8,500 F). Even if they miss their target the shockwave produced by their strike is enough to stun or even kill their prey.
